Below is a back and forth I had with Korey Rochon, I would like for everyone to read this if you have the time. Those that are wondering, many have called Korey Rochon out for his previous poor behavior, if you are interested you can read the link below.
Ultimately my personal feelings about Korey is that he knows he messed up, he knows what he did was wrong yet I have this weird feeling is he really sorry? I can’t say for certain without looking him in the eye for a one on one.
However he knows he played fast and loose which hurt him more than he could have ever imagined.
Yet time will be the real tell all. He’s 23 years old, he has his whole life ahead of him, maybe he can turn it around. God only knows.
Do I hate him? Nah.
Did I judge him to harshly previously? Not really.
Anyone with 7 accounts running around in this time of age seems like a suspect in my eyes 24/7. I know I’m not the only one thinking this either.
It screamed wrong on so many levels, along with his ranting and raving about being this hero for the independent comic scene. While trying to preach a good game, he would have emotional outbursts on the tip of a hat.
What I see before me in Korey is a byproduct of today’s generation. Someone that benefited from the sweat of other peoples hard labors before him, and he could easily just plug into the world wide web and preach his self-professed “brilliant” ideas. When pressed with legitimate questions about his business plan he would flatter and he couldn’t provide none. It only proved his idea originally was flawed. Has he strengthen the core idea now?
Plus he has a tendency of flip-flopping on several things that open him up for attacks because he comes off being spoon fed a jar of ADHD.
So here we are with this mess of a kid, with his social disorders trying to become the savor of indy comics.
When in reality Indy comics don’t need no saving, it only requires people to look outside the box and carve a niche of their own.
Sort of what I’ve done with Space Coast Comixx, and many other people are doing on a daily basis.
Below is my chat with Korey which has him answering some of the questions towards the end he loses his focus and he goes on a parade of apologies. He does provide proof about his dealings with the Core, which you can go to his account to look over. I won’t be sharing that because it has plenty of emails and other personal info.
Do I feel sorry for Korey? No. I really don’t because he allowed for things to get this bad, it was his terrible decisions and actions that lead to so much trouble and I would tell others don’t feel bad just shake your head and take this as a lesson.
What’s the lesson you say? Don’t act like an ASS!! It will only hurt you down the road.
But I do have a final thought for Korey, good luck in your own positive endeavors, and we are all watching you now.
Take your time, ingest it and you decide what you feel. Good day and good luck.
Jake: Good morning, we are going to have a proper interview. I want to know a little about you and so would the others I believe. To get into your head. So what got you into wanting to produce comic books?
Korey: I have always loved superheroes. I didn’t get into comic books until I met Andre and Demetrius 4 years ago. They introduced the world of comic books to me. Mostly I grew up watching tv shows, Bat man, Justice league, the avengers, Spiderman, and my boys the Xmen (old school Xmen) And good morning to you.
Jake: Okay considering that you do have a love for comics, and the medium and seeing that you take part in this industry that you and I love. How many books have you personally created?
Korey: I have over 50 ideas. Unfortunately I don’t have the money to fund all my babies. I have 1 comic that I have published. The Nomen. My first story. I have multiple incomplete stories. The Templar, A kingdom comes, and a shared project with both my former owners which was dropped called The Concord.
I never got around bto making a cover for a kingdom comes. I am currently working on my second comic I dont have a title for it yet but should have a cover soon.
Jake: Thanks for sharing the images to your comic series that you have published. Now let’s get to the nitty gritty of our conversation here. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding you. With multiple accounts. Wishy washy plans about taking on Marvel and DC. Accusations of you not paying out monies owed to comic creators during your online comic con phase with The Core. How does this make you feel?
Korey: Well again I have never denied having multiple accounts. My full name is Korey Joshua Ivey Bay Rochon. Each account is my name, with the exception of the Michael Stevenson which was formerly this account which I deactivated then reactivated after speaking with a good friend of mine and having been giving advice. I had 7 accounts 3 of which i lost the email too, so they are forever locked as they are too see. 2 business accounts. 1 for my comics and the other for my web design and home recreation. 1 for ranting which i just get on and release my anger towards the world through writing. & 1 for my family.
I have paid every creator who was in the core with the exception of Kirt Mohan, who I owe $1.00 to. During the mist of paying him my attention was converted to your blog and the attention is was building around me. I had contacted Kirt along with my team contacting him to pay him, he declined our offer and like everyone else threaten to sue us if we used his material.
Here is a copy of my paypal from a year ago until now. You will see all the payments from the core, payments to a few artists i did small work with, a few job gigs from yahoo, and me sending my friends money as well.
My plans were never wishy washy, I have one goal, to build a united company like Image that can one day reach a level it would take us years alone to reach. My only request over this last year has been one thing. Proof. Everyone is accusing me of doing this and that, and no one can show proof.
You along with everyone else took my words out of context. I never asked anyone to send me any money. I have physical witnesses who I will now name unlike last time to try and clear my name. Roosevelt Pitt my mentor, Anderson Richardson. I came to the entire independent world and asked everyone if they were interested in being owners in the Independent Alliance. Now everyone keeps saying why didn’t I legalize it myself and bring people in and give them shares. That was never an idea. I wanted everyone to be on the same platform right out the gate. I never asked anyone and you can contact every single person I have ever spoken with, and I can show messages that I never asked for money to be sent to me. The 100.00 dollars I spoke of, I asked whoever wanted to be involved as an owner to make sure you have 100.00 to add to our jar so that once we got the plan and goals out of the way between all the leaders and everything was good to go, we can get this bad boy legalized right away.
Jake: Okay, to be fair lets’ just say all this you have just said is true and that everything you’ve said has been taken out of context. Don’t you agree having 7 accounts is a bit excessive? Look at the world we live in today? We live in world where corporations and governments can be easily hacked and duped. Furthermore, we have people from around the globe that pull scams all day online, saying you have a long lost cousin in Africa, or lonely people being Catfish for money from a would be suitor. Here you are with 7 accounts, floating out there online and you use them all at one point or another to contact people about comic work, or have used them in the past. So your following names on FB are Korey Rochon, Rochon Korey, Corey Richardson, Joshua Jey, Michael Stevenson and the others?
Now onto the Core. You’ve stated numerous times that you, made several purchases of other peoples comic books when the Core was running, and gave the impression that is why you never paid the creators back? Did you buy these peoples comics to make your con seem larger than life? As for the $100 from 10 people concept you threw out, it personally sounded insane because no one knew you, and when questioned as to why you would slowly start exploding into massive rants, which lost you a lot of credibility don’t you think?
Korey: No Corey Richardson, or Joshua Jey or Michael Stevenson. The only accounts I have are Korey Rochon, & Rochon Korey. I am currently taking the others down to only keep up my family and business accounts.
During the first week of the core we averaged about 9,000 viewers that week. with no buyers. The website looked good but was lifeless. So I purchased a few pdfs as you can see in my paypal account. I went to various forums, and gave those pdfs away asking people to come to our site and write reviews and etc which they did. We got 3 more buyers the next run on the first day hours after i turned the site on, then I had to turn it off to deal with the mayhem. And again I have paid every single owner except Kirt, I just gave you physical proof of that. Most of the people that messaged me in open conversations were people who I felt were throwing salt at me, I had privately messaged them about it and they didn’t see it working. So yes I exploded at them, because it was uncalled for. Leading me to blocking them.
Once again, I am still waiting for that proof that shows me using all those accounts to contact people about comics. Only 2 profiles are used and both of those involve Korey Rochon. I have never contact anyone from Joshua Bay talking about comics because that’s my rant facebook, all i do is rant. I don’t have a Corey Richardson account. And as i said before Michael Stevenson is this account. I made that name change in an attempt to hide my profile from all the hate mail i was getting. I have more than once admitted to that being the wrong decision.
I have done a lot of wrong. Arguing and burning bridges through my words, but I have never stolen or cheated anyone with the core. I have given proof and now supplied witnesses that anyone can contact, at any time.
And yes sir, it has.
Jake: Korey, okay slow down for a second. I don’t want to misquote you. You said you only have Korey Rochon and Rochon Korey, but then you go on about how the Joshua Jay name is for ranting and that Michael Stevenson became the Rochon Korey account. So you say no you only have two accounts, yet you go on talking about all these other ones. Almost makes me wonder do you suffer from ADHD? I’m not making light of this but you have a real problem focusing on the crucial thing here that this makes you look utterly bad. You go on and how you are a prick, how you are bad at one time you said that the old blog was about 75% right about you. A person trying to get business wouldn’t behave in such an erratic manner.
Furthermore, I just saw a message over on ICC that started they blocked you just today trying to use Corey Richardson, and it was an old picture of you that you’ve used before. Now once more I didn’t see this with my own eyes, but this is what I read. Yet don’t you understand having so many accounts makes you look shady? You may not care, but you will continue to have problems if you continue operating this way.
I see you are saying you bought those comics to then show other people what material you had at your con to get traction. Yet someone on the outside will look at it as you trying to fudge the numbers, to make your con seem more appealing, to get them to invest further with you. People go to jail over that sort of thing. While you can claim innocence or naiveté others could easily see it as a scam.
Ultimately as a person on the outside of your dealings I would steer away from you completely. How does that make you feel?
Korey: Joshua Bay. All those other accounts that I have the information for are currently being deactivated so there is no confusion.
The only two that will be up will be Rochon Korey, which is my business account and Korey Rochon which is my family account.
Jake: Is there anything you want me to know? Are you sorry how this all played out in the court of public opinion?
Korey: I can’t judge you on how you feel about me or towards me. I know that I haven’t done anything as far as steal or theft of anyone’s comic. I have shown proof. I have not lied about my personal accounts. I have not taken anything from anyone. I have provided witnesses, there is nothing more I can but travel in time and correct my wrongs but I can’t. I have given full evidence, if you judge me, judge me by my improper acts of how I treated people, how I was treated. Not by accusations of what I have done via, stealing and not paying people.
Of course. Since I started a company my money time and investments have all gone into independent comics with the exception and purchase of few Iron Man comics here and there. But I have always wanted to build something that my children could grow up on, and yes. This thing was blown way out of this world. You never mentioned this blog to me so people built a wall of hatred for about a month towards me, but I can’t be mad at you because you were doing what you felt was right. I also saw a good blog about me. Once you spoke with a former business owner of mine he took my words out of context. If people choose to believe me or not that is your decision and I respect you for either. My only request is that if you want to judge me, judge me off of physical facts. Not he say she say. I had (formerly) multiple accounts, i am deactivating all but 2. I do not know who or what is Corey Richardson because my name starts with a K. All my accounts that I formerly had involve my full name. It is rare for me to apologize but i do want to apologize and move forward. So here it is, this apology comes from the bottom of my heart, I swear to everyone, my family and my team and the people I have met over the years….
To Elliott Arancibia, you and I first started Ascendant Comics and I began taking it serious and forced things apon you that you did not want to happen. At the time both myself and Demetrius were both working I did not feel that it was right we all made the same money when we all were not putting in the same things. I should not have forced you into trying to get a job and ultimately I am responsible for you leaving Ascendant Comics. I want you to know that I have never taken any of you ideas, I have openly admitted to wanting to write on you story since you chose to give it up, but saying and doing are two different things. We have exchanged words more me than you, and I apologize to you Elliott, I am truly am sorry that my actions caused you to leave and ultimately end our friendship. I wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors, and hope that we can be friends again one day.
To Demetrius Goines, I met you through Andre and you and I have always been on the same path just two different roads. You were the light of our company and I was the shadow. You and I literally built Ascendant Comics. You conducted yourself as a great leader and president for our company. You are a talented writer and man. Even though we bickered a lot, we saw eye to eye a lot as well. I have never taken or stolen your ideas, when you chose to stop writing on Generation Rift I openly admitted that we could write a new story line and work on it if you didn’t want it anymore. I have never published any idea that you or Elliott have written. I say things because I see the potential behind them. Remember that you and I were paying on all these comics. Your comic was the first comic we found an artist for, then Andre, then Elliott, then me. I put my material at the end and payed for others projects because ultimately yall creations were better than mine. If anyone knows about the love I have for Ascendant Comics it is you. I have never stabbed you in your back, I have never published anything outside your name. The Concord is a comic we both share and I have cancelled all drawings on that comic. I have used Captain Supernova drawing for multiple promos for Ascendant Comics during the time you were there and when you left. I am ultimately part responsible for why you do not have a completed comic, but not entirely at fault. I at times admit I was a terrible leader and harder on you than anyone else because ultimately you were a better leader than myself. But your work ethic was not sufficient enough for me, I wanted to build that and then follow you. But that day never came. I know that you hate me, have hatred for me, will never speak to me again. I am truly sorry for how our relationship ended and I only wish the best for you. That apology I put on my grandfather, the one I lived with. And you know how much I truly loved that man. I hope that one day you and I can sit down and speak and try to work things out.
To Andre Smith, you and I were friends since 10th grade. I considered you a brother and my best friend. You have slept over at my home, eaten my food and I the same to you. I helped you get 2 of the 3 jobs you have had and you helped me open up to friendship. I put a lot on you, sometimes without even asking you how you felt about it and just expecting it from you. That was terrible of me as a friend. I expected you to be a verbal leader when that was something you did not want to do. During our first fall of Ascendant Comics you decided to leave and go venture on your own. I asked you to come back and help us. You were the glue that kept us all together, once you were gone Ascendant Comics was gone. Even though all our former writers and artists knew only me as a physical presence as the owner of Ascendant Comics, Demetrius was the spirit and you were our heart. I helped produce two of your comics Project Omni and Myrrddin. Unfortunately neither project was completed due to us losing contact with you artist for a while, and the other artist as well. I have never stolen from you and I have used your brother Cliff as promoter for our company paying him 20.00 dollars every time except once. I have contacted you multiple times to pay him but no response has been given. Demetrius took my words out a context as well. You knew about the blog for almost a month and never told me, as my friend i saw that as betrayal. I expected you to at least call me or say something to defend me when you were apart of Ascendant Comics and you know the full truth. But you didn’t you just allowed things to be said, knowing the truth and not helping me at all. And true it had nothing to do with you, the reason I got mad at you and called you a traitor was simply for the fact that all you and I had been through with comics you know that I am not theft nor have I ever scammed anyone or anything, taken anyone’s ideas and published them, you knew all of this and not once did you come to my aid and my back as my friend. I am truly sorry that you and I had to lose our friendship over this and i wish we could sit down and talk. I wish you the best.
To the Independent Comic world, since getting to know comics all I have wanted to do was more and more. Shows, movies, games etc… My love for comics has grown and continues to grow. The Core was supposed to be something that united us. And due to my faith in the wrong people it was tarnished by those same people I trusted. Winston Jordan I have never and will never sale your property. I asked you for a full PDF, to add it to the shop page on the site so that people could buy it there and not be diverted to multiple sites. I called you names when you were one of the people that accused me of accusations because I messaged you and contacted you almost daily with information every time something happened with the core.
I apologize to you Winston Jordan for any trouble of convenience that I have caused you. Never will I do anything to you nor anyone else that has gone through the horrors and joy that I have as well of creating, spending and building a comic and fan base. I wish you and your company the best, and I hope that you can one day forgive me for my childish acts. Just so you know my name, honest to God is Korey Rochon, and I am asking you to forgive me and I hope one day I can shake your hand sir.
To Kirt Mohan, I have never taken your ideas sir. I contacted you every single day with updates about the core. I have shown you proof that I purchased your comic via pdf to use as a promotion tool, for people to write reviews. During the time the blog transpired I forgot to pay you the amount owed to you $1.00. Myself and my team contacted you various times to pay you, but you declined. Till this day I have never down talked you or anything. I like you comic, it was one of the reasons I contacted you to join the core. I hope that you can forgive me so that you and I can move forward as well. I wish you nothing but the best, and I hope that you can forgive me for anything I might have done to you.
To Pete Hernandez III, our conversation started off great and then went south when I asked you to send me all the pdfs for the comics you had with the core. I want to explain why I did that. With you by yourself you had like 8 comics which is remarkable in the indie world. I asked you for all 8 pdfs because it made no sense to have the cover on the site without people being able to buy. I wanted the core to start out with multiple comics ready to be purchased and good to go. During that conversation my emotions got the best of me and caused me to block you. I want you to know that whether you believe it our not I support your comics and your organization and what you are building. My brother reads your comics and so do I. I understand the level of hatred or disliking that you may have for me and I can no longer be mad or upset at something that I caused not you. My level of professionalism caused this problem to escalate and there is nothing I can do that can make it right but apologize and hope that you can and would ever forgive me. Pete I truly am sorry.
To various Writers, and Artists, I am sorry for how I conducted myself through my words. I have spoken harshly to vast people and the same has been spoken to me. I am sorry for anything I may have said and have done to any of you that may have caused you to dislike or hate me in any way. I want you all to know that if anything I am not a theft nor have I stolen money or ideas from any creator. I love comics, I have always done what I thought could help the independent world without us having to take the diamond route or anything of the sort. I have spent lots of money on trying to build a company and a dream and due to my improper acts it has caused me a lot of misfortune and I can’t take it back unfortunately. I can only ask that you all see the other side of the story before judging me and I hope that with the proof I have provided you all will see that I truly just don’t know how to handle situations when I am mad. I apologize to you all, and hope that we can work together in the future. If any of you have any questions or anything feel free to contact me. Thank you all.
To Jake Estrada, I apologize for my attitude towards you. I can’t be mad at you for wanting to protect what I love. You did what you felt was best for the Independent world and I only have myself to blame. I thank you for the time you took to give me this opportunity to explain myself and I hope that you have seen that I am not what is being said of me. Thank you.
To anyone else I might have missed, or wronged or felt have been wronged. I apologize and hope that you will forgive me as well.
