Submissions

SCCX seeks to publish the best work we can get our hands on, period. From expansive to minimalist, narrative to lyric, epiphanic to subtle: if it’s a moving work of art, we want it. We hope to provide a venue for both distinguished and emerging artists. Most importantly, thank you for giving us a chance to view your work. We appreciate it.

All submissions must be unpublished. Authors retain all rights. Simultaneous submissions are fine, just let us know right away if accepted elsewhere.

SCCX is committed to paying its writers and artists. This has been our goal from day one, because, as creators ourselves, we know it sucks to not receive any kind of financial compensation for the work you do. At present we are only able to offer a payment of $5 per page of the printed magazine, which, while small, is symbolic of our commitment to supporting writers/artists as well as our intentions to continue to increase this amount over the coming years. Our digital only editions if you make it into that we will offer $2 dollars per page. Now much we can increase this amount by, and how quickly, depends on the support of our readers and submitter’s. Payments will be sent via PayPal only.

There is no fee to submit to SCCX, but we strongly recommend you read an issue before submitting.

ComiXX Guidelines

We welcome submissions in Art and Comics year-round. We’re seeking anything from one-page comics to from graphic novels. We do not pair you with artist, here you will need to find yourself an artist if you are just the writer.

FICTION GUIDELINES

We consider short stories and novel excerpts up to 8,000 words, or three flash fiction pieces (1,000 words each) in one document.

POETRY GUIDELINES

We welcome submissions of 1-3 poems (10 pages total) in one document.

HOW TO SEND

Please send us a cover letter including a short bio and brief artist’s statement, along with a selection of your pieces (original dimensions only) as attachments to the Editors at [email protected] (Editor-in-Chief) and [email protected] (Visual Arts & Comics Editor). Please be sure to include “NR Art Submission” in the subject line of your email.
